Lombard
Lombard is known as the Lilac Town. It is located 21 miles west of the Chicago
Loop, situated north of Downers Grove. It is known for its architecture, volunteer spirit and lilacs.
It's association with lilacs began in 1911, when Colonel Plumb, a resident, planted 450
bushes on his estate. When he died, his estate donated the land to the village,
which became Lilacia Park. The village has celebrated its Lilac Festival since 1935.
The elementary schools are in Districts 4, 44, and 45. Lombard students attend
Willowbrook High School, District 88, Glenbard East, District 87, or Addison Trail High
School, District 88. |
