Lisle
Lisle is a village located between Naperville and Downer's Grove, incorporated in 1959.
The village is named for Lisle, New York. Many of the residents are employed
along the East-West Tollway (Interstate 88) high-tech corridor. The village is a
compatible blend of old and new.
Lisle is often called the Arboretum Village, for the Morton Arboretum. The
arboretum is a 14 acre nature preserve started near the turn of the century by the founder
of the Morton Salt Co., Jay Sterling Morton, who made his home near Lisle. Any flora
that are able to weather its climate is represented in the arboretum.
Most students attend District 202, but some attend Naperville Community District 203.
The older students attend Lisle Community High School. There is also a
Catholic grammar school and Benet Academy, a Catholic co-ed high school. Both Benet
Academy and Illinois Benedictine College (on the village border) are over 100 years old.
