Glen Ellyn
First settled in 1833, this picturesque village, with hilly tree-lined streets, has
grown to become a popular western suburban Chicago community. The village is
primarily residential, with light business and retail, and virtually no industry. It
is a highly desired area for relocation.
There is a charming downtown area, with many specialty shops and fine restaurants.
In addition to the Glen Ellyn Public Library, the College of DuPage Library is
available. There is a live theater at the College of Fine Arts Center and a Sports
and Recreation Center, along with courses for all ages.
Elementary school districts 89 and 41 serve the area. In District 41 are:
Hadley Junior High; Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin, Churchill, and Forest Glen.
District 89 includes: Glen Crest Middle School, Arbor View, Briar Glen, Park View, and
Westfield. The High Schools are in District 87 (Glenbard West and South).
